What is the Trading Online Voucher?
The Trading Online Voucher is a grant offered by the Local Enterprise Office that is specifically designed to help small businesses in Ireland reduce their marketing costs. With this grant, you can claim 50% off your marketing costs – up to €2,500 – as well as training and professional advice. And the best part? You can use it twice per business!
Is Your Business Eligible for the Trading Online Voucher?
- Less than 10 full-time employees (equivalent to 20 part-time employees)
- Annual revenue of less than €2 million
- A minimum trading history of 6 months
What Can the Trading Online Voucher Be Used for?
- Get marketing advice and free training sessions from experts
- Create and implement a digital marketing strategy tailored to your niche
- Build a new e-commerce website or upgrade your existing one
- Set up user-friendly online payments and booking systems
- Get professional photos and videos (using up to 80% of your TOV budget)
- Buy software and develop a mobile app to facilitate sales and engage users
- Advertise online and gain visibility (using up to 30% of your budget)
- Learn how to run your online business effectively to boost profits continuously
How Do You Get Reimbursed?
When it comes to reimbursement, the Local Enterprise Office requires that you pay the full amount of your marketing expenses up front, but they will then reimburse you for up to €2,500. To make this process more manageable, the reimbursement can be made in instalments over a period of six months.
NOTE: If your marketing costs come to €3,000, the government will cover €1,500, and if your bill is €5,000 ex. VAT, they’ll cover €2,500. Note, however, that if your bill goes over €5,000, funding will still be capped at €2,500.
How is the Budget Allocated?
- Marketing: up to 80% of the total amount (ex. VAT)
- Advertising: up to 30% of the total amount (ex. VAT)
- Photography: up to 80% of the total amount (ex. VAT)

Can You Apply For a Second TOV?
Absolutely! You can apply for a second (and final) voucher after you’ve submitted your documents for the first one. If you’re not satisfied with your first provider, feel free to switch. And if you have a second business, you can use the voucher twice for that business as well!
